SET YOUR GOALS SPRING TOUR DAY 7: SYRACUSE
Sorry I’ve been busy the last little while so here is the last day of my week with the boys in Set Your Goals. Drove through the night again to Syracuse. woke up while the sun was just rising so I took some shots.
First we sat in a mcdonalds parking lot where me and Matt got breakfast. Then back to sleep for a while, then off to another breakfast place for everyone else that happened to be beside batting cages.
Got to the venue which was not near anything at all. gas stations and a strip club.
Decided it was the perfect day for a BBQ since there was nothing around. off to wal mart to get supplies.
We even took the cart.
Handy man junior building the new BBQ.
Took photos of Cartel that night. For the whole tour they were only playing Honesty and NOT Say Anything, so since it was my last night of the tour they played it for me. Kids were stage diving once they started that song haha.
Since it was Easter weekend, the guys planned a surprise with Mixtapes for the middle of the set.
there was some silly string.
BIG THANKS to the guys for having me out. Hope they aren’t having the worst time in europe right now.
Stayed in a hotel the night before. For some reason me, Junior and Justin were the only ones that slept IN the hotel. Not gonna complain about having a bed to myself.
bitch
being in the land of freedom I sure saw a lot of this. no complaints.
this venue is a shit hold. but crowbar was playing two weeks after we were there. cool.
Chillin during soundcheck
after soundcheck we left to get food and came outside to this.
walked around the city a bit. most things closed at 6pm though.
without fail here is Justin saying hello again.
Found a cupcake shop. Had to get one.
Matt Wilson everyone.
Went to the mall.
Green room.
The set in Cleveland was the craziest out of the week I was there and the guys said it was best show of the tour up until that point. It was completely sold out too.
During mutiny the crowd got nuts and rushed the stage.
They even lifted Matt up.
After the show we had MELT delivered which is an amazing grilled cheese spot that’s been featured on Diners drive ins and dives as well as man vs food. It did not dissappoint.
Drove through the night to get to syracuse.
Left chicago a little late. slept in a parking lot. party.
The cooler leaked and ruined a bunch of paper work. so Justin busted out his mobile office to reprint off a bunch of shit.
This venue was set up so weird, but it was fun to be at. Raekwon was playing here a few weeks later hah. The audience section was tiered and the backstage area looked like your grandmas house.
This spot where mikey set up his drums looked like the backroom in my public school’s gym. Chairs stacked up and weird tubing shit.
see what I mean about the room’s decor? there was also a kitchenette with a dinner table and a jacuzzi style tub in the bathroom.
I’m pretty sure we missed sound check today so after we loaded in Mikey and I set out to get that WAFFLE HOUSE! Which I was stoked about. If we had these in toronto I would go everyday.
All this for 6$
Got back in time to watch HIT THE LIGHTS.
Junior and Jordan have a preshow chat.
This is my fav shot of Matt the week I was out.
Fav shot of Joe.
I got a lot of favourite shots of the guys during this set cause the lighting was rad. Here’s my fav shot of Justin.
Covington was cool until there was a mishap with the staff at the end of the night. But it was sorted. I didn’t get to see some friends that I was hoping to meet up with either maybe next time! After the show we went to this Gumbo place that was incredible. I was too stoked on food to take any photos with my camera but I put it all up on instagram if you got that shit.
SET YOUR GOALS SPRING TOUR DAY FOUR: CHICAGO
CHICAGO! first stop was to get food. Went to this spot called Pick Me Up.
Jordan is crazy. CRAAAAAAAZZZZZZZZZZZYYYYYYYYYY. I think he still had peanute butter on his face from the night before.
Next stop was checking out Wrigley field. We missed the home opener by a day. BUT i still got to see the park which was cool.
Mikey was so stoked to play catch just outside the doors.
Then it was off to the venue to start the day.
The guys were always so happy to see me shooting them while they loaded in.
One thing I really liked about chicago since it was my first time here, was the above ground subway trains. They were so loud when they would rush past at full tilt.
The venue we were at, called the bottom lounge had a much bigger stage than the last 2 shows so the boys put up this big fuck off banner.
I guess this fix dents on your skins. I dunno.
After soundcheck I went with Matt and Junior and one of their friends to go get the infamous DEEP DISH PIZZA. when in rome.
I don’t get the hype. Still tasty, can never have enough cheese on a pizza.
This was the first night that I noticed Justin do more than make sure he played all of his parts correctly since he has been filling in for Dan. So I had to get some shots of him headbanging.
This show was fun. Hit the lights joined the tour and it was their first show. I’ll have pics of them in the next post.
Packed everything up and headed to this place called Kuma’s where they only sell gourmet burgers named after metal bands. But we showed up and they were assholes saying they’re kitchen was closed when it wasn’t. they just didn’t wanna serve a whole tour. ASSHOLES.
SET YOUR GOALS SPRING TOUR DAY THREE: OMAHA
Drove overnight in order to get to Omaha.
Got to the venue and everyone was outside playing handball in the middle of loading. The weather was nice again.
This photo was taken after Matt let off an M-500 in the parking lot. i’ll get that video up soon hah.
Me and Mikey left to go Bowling down the street at the oldest bowling alley I’ve ever been to. They had amazing lemonade though. I didn’t bring my camera and should have oh well! I still suck at bowling.
The realness posted at the venue.
Jusint k saying whats up.
This is prolly one of my fav shots I got out of the whole week. Junior during soundcheck.
After soundcheck we ventured downtown…to find a starbucks haha. The boys always had to have starbucks.
the glamourous backstage..
This was unfortunately Fireworks last date on the tour. Sucks I didn’t get to see more of them, but the leg that took me home they just weren’t a part of. They were rad though! Can’t wait to see em do warped all summer long.
By the time Set Your Goals took the stage the crowd had thinned out quite a bit. It was the first night it seemd Cartel was the bigger draw. Even still the guys had a bunch a fun and Fireworks were acting like idiots during the whole set goofing off.
The calm after the storm.
on to chicago!
The next day was a day off in Denver and it had suddenly dropped in temperature making it 5-10 degrees. Annoying for a day off. Made the best of it. Woke up and left the hotel to get breakfast.
We ate at this place called SNOOZE and it was fucking awesome. If you’re ever in Denver check it out!
After this there wasn’t much left to do other than go to the mall cause the weather was so shit. So thats what we did.
We found a trampoline park that we went to that night, but I didn’t bring my camera for fear of being stolen and or broken. We played dodgeball and it was rad. I have some photos on my instagram sidewayshatpat. Then we started our all night drive to Omaha.
